Wild River by Nadia Kamrath (a poem)
Running wild, oh how we wish it could,
But giant walls prevent what should,
Be wild, oh it must,
Be free, we can trust,
That one day we will float upon a wild river,
As long ago it stood,
Free from the walls of dams,
Keeping the world from good.
They are like us,
No need to keep them in a cage.
Powerful rivers,
Used, abused, filled with rage.
We pray that one day we can set them free,
We must lift the cage,
And fill our hearts with glee.
In the end, a river is a river
And we must be a caregiver.
To fill it with light and let it go far,
Not stuck,
Not broke,
But a single shining star.
